Starting in August 2024, The New York Times published nine articles in just five months attacking Shen Yun Performing Arts, the New York-based company that has created something of a miracle on the global stage. These articles are riddled with bias, distortion, and even defamation of Shen Yun, departing seriously from common sense and journalistic ethics, leaving one to wonder why a century-old newspaper would produce such one-sided and distorted coverage of an internationally acclaimed American arts organization.
Two pieces of intelligence from inside the CCP, surfacing earlier this month, revealed a shocking backstory: The New York Times' clumsy, repeated attacks on Shen Yun and Falun Gong are part of the CCP's plan to suppress Falun Gong overseas, echoing a far larger conspiracy behind the scenes—one in which the CCP is preparing to go to war with the United States precisely in order to conceal its own fatal weakness.
A Fight to the Death: Two Pieces of Intelligence Reveal the CCP’s Ambition to Destroy America
On January 6, the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) released classified intelligence originating from within Beijing's top leadership. The intelligence shows that Xi Jinping's strategic objective is to strike at the United States. Xi believes conflict between China and America is bound to erupt, and CCP training for officials at every level has emphasized this point for years, with Xi wanting subordinates to understand that "confrontation with America" is not his personal idea but an inevitable stage in the CCP's development. As a result, since 2018 all of the CCP's foreign-facing work has been focused on the United States.
The intelligence also shows that the CCP dares to attack Shen Yun and Falun Gong so brazenly on American soil because its leadership has assessed that not everyone in the U.S. government supports Falun Gong; as long as the U.S. government does not step in, these "unrestricted warfare" operations—smear campaigns targeting Falun Gong's founder, The Epoch Times, and related figures in America—will not be brought to a halt anytime soon.
What the CCP fears most is that the FBI might cooperate with Falun Gong practitioners, and that official U.S. action could sink these schemes. That is why the CCP leadership's most urgent priority right now is to accurately gauge Donald Trump's real attitude and figure out what measures he might take against the CCP.
On January 8, information disclosed to The Epoch Times by a whistleblower inside China's Ministry of Public Security, using the pseudonym Shen Liang, corroborated the intelligence obtained by WOIPFG. Shen told The Epoch Times that these New York Times articles are part of the CCP's transnational campaign to suppress Falun Gong, orchestrated by Minister of State Security Chen Yixin, with the goal of dragging the United States into complicity so as to cover up the CCP's monstrous crimes against the millions of Falun Gong practitioners inside China.
Shen disclosed that Chen Yixin advised Xi Jinping that Falun Gong absolutely must be eliminated, out of fear that the United States and Falun Gong might join forces to formally investigate what Falun Gong practitioners have suffered inside China. Should the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong—including forced organ harvesting—be exposed to the international community, it would mean not only the collapse of the Party, but the possibility that all of the CCP's top leaders, including Xi Jinping himself, could be put on trial before an international tribunal.
Shen said that Sino-American relations were previously a matter of economic friction alone, but as the international landscape has shifted—especially with Russia's decline—it has now become direct confrontation between China and the United States, a fight to the death for supremacy. At such a moment, the CCP obviously cannot afford to leave this fatal weakness—its crimes in persecuting Falun Gong—in American hands. The CCP wants to exploit America's own partisan divisions to drive a wedge between the U.S. government and Falun Gong before Americans wake up to what is happening, eliminating Falun Gong in the process—a scheme the CCP itself regards as its cleverest move.
Shen said the CCP leadership has already struck certain deals with some American politicians, who help the CCP target Falun Gong on U.S. soil in exchange for various benefits from the CCP. Most of The New York Times' material came from leads supplied by CCP agents planted inside Falun Gong, and some of it was even fabricated with the agents' direct participation—such as by bribing former Shen Yun performers.
Shen said the CCP has never regarded the United States merely as a competitor—this is an unambiguous consensus within the Party—and that its struggle with America is a fight to the death, one side or the other. This has been the operating assumption inside the CCP since 2018, yet Americans still have not fully grasped it even now.
The CCP’s Ultimate Strategy: Defeat America, Dominate the World
From the Cold War to globalization, and now to the current process of de-globalization, no matter how the global landscape shifts or how nations' interests and value systems are realigned, the CCP's core strategy toward the United States has remained constant: to defeat America, dominate the globe, and take charge of running the planet. This strategy stems from the CCP's evil nature, determined by its deeply rooted communist ideology and totalitarian genetic code.
After coming to power, Xi Jinping abandoned the policy of "hiding one's strength and biding one's time" pursued in the Deng Xiaoping era, and put forward instead the design of a "community with a shared future for mankind," gradually laying bare the CCP's global ambitions in full. This "community with a shared future for mankind" is, in essence, nothing but a repackaging of the Communist Manifesto's call to "liberate all of humanity"—and it also represents an ideological declaration of Xi's new-era, life-or-death showdown with the United States.
On January 2, an unveiling ceremony was held in Beijing for a research center on the "community with a shared future for mankind." Commenting on this, Yuan Hongbing, a Chinese legal scholar based in Australia, wrote in an article published on Vision Times on January 6 that Xi Jinping's "community with a shared future for mankind" is, at its core, a complete ideological system for the global expansion of communist totalitarianism, built around Communist Party culture as its central value. In reality, it is a project of global expansion animated by communist ideology, aimed at ruling the whole of humanity and realizing the Communist Manifesto's declaration that the Communists intend to claim ownership of the entire world and thoroughly eliminate and destroy the free, democratic way of life. That, Yuan said, is the true nature of Xi Jinping's so-called "community with a shared future for mankind."
Yuan also said that Xi Jinping's more than a decade of dictatorial rule has become a massive unfinished political project: both domestic governance and foreign policy have already fallen into deep difficulty, the economy has essentially no prospect of recovery, diplomatic isolation will only worsen, and domestic political and social tensions will continue to rise. When the CCP convenes its 21st National Congress in the autumn of 2027, Xi Jinping, in order to secure the Party's approval for yet another term, will have no choice but to launch a war over Taiwan to lay the political groundwork for himself—meaning the CCP is bound to launch military action against Taiwan before 2027.
Veteran media commentator Guo Jun said on a recent episode of NTD's "Elite Forum" program that Xi Jinping's greatest political goal, set at the CCP's 19th Party Congress, is unifying Taiwan—by force if necessary—and that this is a key factor behind the fundamental shift in U.S.-China relations. The 19th Party Congress in 2017 set the tone for so-called "liberating Taiwan," which led to the fundamental change in U.S.-China relations in 2018. Because the CCP believes war with the United States is inevitable, its entire grand strategy is aimed at America and the Western bloc.
Regarding The New York Times' repeated attacks on Shen Yun, Guo Jun said that intelligence from principled insiders explains why this operation was led by the Ministry of State Security rather than, as in the past, the Ministry of Public Security. In other words, the CCP now regards confrontation with the United States as an inevitable outcome of its own development, which is why, since 2018, all of its foreign-facing work has been focused on America.
Guo Jun pointed out that, as things now stand, the presence of Falun Gong's founder in the United States, together with Falun Gong practitioners both in America and in mainland China, has become a major latent threat to the Xi Jinping regime. Especially now that Trump has taken office again, with foreign policy likely to treat the CCP as its top threat, the CCP must prepare for a full-scale escalation of confrontation. Under these circumstances, eliminating or weakening Falun Gong within the United States has become a shared consensus among the CCP leadership.
The Biggest Worry in Confronting America: The CCP’s Fear of Having Its Fatal Weakness Exposed
The content of the two intelligence reports above is logically consistent with Professor Yuan Hongbing's analysis of the situation in Taiwan. In 2018, Xi Jinping began plotting his third term, staking his position on resolving the so-called Taiwan question—a course that would inevitably mean direct confrontation, even war, with the United States. From that point on, Xi intensified political infiltration of the United States, influence over its media, control over its infrastructure, and other "unrestricted warfare" strategies, all aimed at weakening America's strength, deepening its political divisions, and undermining its will to intervene in a war across the Taiwan Strait.
In 2021, soon after the Biden administration took office, America's chaotic, collapse-like withdrawal from Afghanistan unfolded, with the Taliban swiftly retaking power and twenty years of American effort evaporating overnight. This development delighted the CCP. Around the same time, Xi Jinping put forward the concept of "the East rising, the West declining." The outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war in February 2022 further strengthened Xi's resolve to accelerate a forced reunification of Taiwan. In October 2022, at the CCP's 20th Party Congress, Xi secured his third term on the strength of his commitment to reunify Taiwan by force, ushering in the so-called "new era of Xi Jinping" and pushing domestic policy further toward a wartime footing.
Even as the CCP plots for war across the Taiwan Strait and prepares for conflict with the United States, one thing keeps it up at night: the enormous blood debt it owes for persecuting Falun Gong, and Falun Gong's steadily growing global influence.
Overseas Falun Gong practitioners have not only founded media platforms such as The Epoch Times, New Tang Dynasty Television, and Sound of Hope Radio, but have also established institutions such as Fei Tian College, the Fei Tian Academy of the Arts, Shen Yun Performing Arts, and the GanJing World platform. The influence of these organizations and platforms is gradually penetrating the CCP's Great Firewall and reaching deep into every level of Chinese society, posing an unprecedented challenge to the CCP's control of public opinion. At the same time, the Falun Gong belief system, centered on "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance," stands in stark contrast to a CCP totalitarian system sustained by lies and violence—making Falun Gong a natural adversary the CCP simply cannot defeat. Falun Gong's steadily expanding influence in the international community also undercuts the CCP's ambitions for global domination, posing a serious challenge to its global expansion.
In addition, as globalization retreats and Western nations renew their focus on traditional human-rights values, the human-rights issues surrounding Falun Gong are gradually receiving more and more attention. In particular, the U.S. government's stance on the Falun Gong issue could well become a bellwether for policy across the Western world, further driving international condemnation of and response to the CCP's human-rights abuses.
In 2019, the China Tribunal, an independent people's tribunal based in London, concluded that state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting is, beyond doubt, occurring on a large scale in China, with Falun Gong practitioners as its principal source of organs.
On March 27, 2023, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Stop Forced Organ Harvesting Act (H.R. 1154) by an overwhelming margin—the first piece of legislation with real punitive force aimed at halting the CCP's atrocity of forced organ harvesting.
On June 25, 2024, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Falun Gong Protection Act unanimously by voice vote.
More than twenty years of CCP persecution has failed to eliminate Falun Gong; instead, it has caused the various crimes against humanity committed in the course of that persecution to become known to an ever-wider swath of the world. Fear and dread that these monstrous crimes might one day face international judgment has become a fatal vulnerability for the CCP in its dealings with Western nations, especially now that direct confrontation with the West looms.
It is foreseeable that, should the CCP and the United States reach a final showdown and enter a state of open hostility, America will inevitably seek out the best strategy for countering the CCP threat. Holding the CCP accountable for its crimes against humanity in persecuting Falun Gong would undoubtedly be an extraordinarily powerful option—not only a major step in upholding justice and defending universal values, but also a masterstroke capable of effectively undermining the CCP's international influence. Doing so could rally more nations to unite against the CCP, potentially even trigger internal fractures at the top of the Party, and ultimately lead to the collapse of CCP rule—achieving the ideal strategic outcome of subduing the enemy without fighting.
Shen Liang told The Epoch Times: "I have personally witnessed the organ harvesting and torture—it is utterly inhuman. Once it is fully exposed, the whole world will bring the CCP down."
